Open Access Policy

We Use Open Access Publishing, Because…

By 'open access' to this review, we mean its free availability on the public internet, permitting any users to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of these articles, crawl them for indexing, pass them as data to software, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without financial, legal, or technical barriers other than those inseparable from gaining access to the internet itself.

The Budapest Open Access Initiative

All articles published in Fides Law Review are completely free of charge for the readers. In providing access to articles, Fides Law Review undertakes that it will not charge any reader, library or university for access to published electronic articles. Articles become available immediately upon publication, and a visitor to https://fideslawreview.com/ can immediately access, download, print, and read any published article in its entirety. Although the copyright of the published works is transferred to Fides Law Review, readers can reuse the material (with appropriate attribution) as the articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution License.

Open Access is a reaction to the traditional, subscription-based model of scholarly publishing. Under the subscription system, anyone wishing to read an article has to pay a fee to the publisher. Fides Law Review does not charge an article processing fee (review fee or publication fee) and does not charge a subscription fee for access to articles, so it has no source of income.

By using a liberal copyright license, Open Access removes barriers and allows researchers to make use of articles in new ways. This includes practices like meta-analysis and text mining, which help reveal trends in science that would not be obvious at the level of individual articles.

Fides Law Review is an open-access journal which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author.
